Eco friendly clothing

Eco friendly clothing by definition is free of conflict, toxins and as local as possible to reduce carbon footprint.

Many designs use only organic cotton. Organic cotton is grown from seeds that aren’t genetically engineered and in soil that has been certified free from pesticides, herbicides and other cancer causing toxins. Purchasing organic products is good stewardship; it helps you and everyone by preserving and sustaining the quality of our air, water, food and land for current and future generations. Organic cotton is the smart choice.

Renewable fibers consists of only those cultivated without the use of herbicides, pesticides or defoliants and are sustainably harvested. Additionally, the fibers themselves are naturally resilient and biodegradable. The textile processing includes non-toxic and low impact methods that have no hidden environmental impacts or consequences leaving green fabrics with a minimal eco-footprint.

Many fabrics that are available for clothing and accessories are:Tencel gauze, bamboo, cotton, wool, hemp, silk charmeuse, hemp jersey and linen.

Personally, I like bamboo, it is so amazingly soft and keeps it's shape well.

Sustainability included recycling: many designers use only top grade factory surplus fabrics as one aspect of their efforts to work towards sustainability. Surplus is excess fabric or material leftover from manufacturing. In many cases, this perfectly good fabric is simply discarded or left to rot. By utilizing this existing fabric they reduce waste, save additional resources and use less of the Earth’s precious capital while still producing great products with a purpose.
